New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress turned himself in today that Manhattan’s 17th precinct.  Burress, who accidentally shot himself in the leg on Friday,  is facing two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree which can land him in jail for up to 15 years if convicted.  He was released on a $100,000 bond.   Stories are emerging about the incident that say the club was aware that Burress was armed, but did not have him give up his weapon.  Also Burress is reported to have shot himself at around midnight, but didn’t arrive at a hospital for over 2 hours to be treated.  Once at the hospital he used a fake name, Harris Smith, and the incident of the shooting was not filed with police.  Hospitals are required to follow all shootings and that is being looked in to also.  This will be a long and drawn out case that will most likely not end well for the former star receiver - I say former because his hasn’t done enough to earn that this season.
