J.K. Rowling is in New York City to try and stop the production of a Harry Potter encyclopedia entitled Harry Potter Lexicon. Rowling has allowed websites to use Potter pictures, clips, and graphics without issue in the past, but this book is ruffling her feathers a bit.

But when RDR Books, a small publisher in Muskegon, Mich., announced it was planning to publish a print version last fall of a popular fan Web site called “The Harry Potter Lexicon” (hp-lexicon.org), Ms. Rowling and Warner Brothers, the movie studio that has adapted her books into films, balked. Their objection is that the book merely repackages Ms. Rowling’s work and, unlike the free fan sites, is intended to make money for its publisher.

Here is my problem with the reasoning behind the lawsuit. If Rowling and Warner Brothers are claiming that the fan sites are not making money they are crazy. We advertising for some of the more popular Potter sites are surely pulling in thousands a month. Just because the sites don’t make money by selling the Harry Potter information they do make money from its use. I believe the real reason she wants this book stopped is because she has plans to release her own encyclopedia and doesn’t want to hurt it’s possible sales.

Harry Potter Encyclopedia in the works

It looks like Harry Potter fans will have something to keep them occupied once they complete “Deathly Hallows”. JK Rowling has made it known that she will be creating a in depth Harry Potter encyclopedia.

The epilogue of her final book only offers clues to what happens in the years after Harry’s schooldays, so fans will be delighted to hear plans for an encyclopedia are under way.

In an exclusive interview with American television, Rowling confirmed she “probably will” publish more details about her beloved characters.

She said the encyclopedia would include background stories of characters she has already written but had to cut – such as Harry’s school friend Dean Thomas.

She also said the book would include details of a new headmaster at Hogwarts, and who was teaching defence against the dark arts at the magical school.

“I’m not going to do it tomorrow because I’d really like a break,” Rowling said, “so you may be waiting”.

The final installment has already set all kinds of sales recors for a novel and the internet craze has been unbelievable. The latest movie is a blockbuster and with two more in the works there doesn’t seem to be a let down coming. The encyclopedia should also be a major hit when it arrives, but I assume you won’t see that until after the final movie when fans are really hurting for the next Potter fix.

NY Times Potter Review and more leaks

The new York Times has a review o the final Potter novel already printed and it gave away many spoilers. For those interested in seeing the review you can check it out here.

The source of the early shipments of the last novel and the companies that most likely responsible for the leaked content were identified by Scholastic.

Scholastic has recently learned that some individuals have received copies of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows through the mail , beginning on Tuesday, July 17th, as a result of a breach of the on-sale agreement by the distributor, Levy Home Entertainment, and shipments made by DeepDiscount.com, a customer of that distributor. We are taking immediate legal action against DeepDiscount.com and Levy Home Entertainment. The number of copies shipped is around one one-hundredth of one percent of the total U.S. copies to go on sale at 12:01 am on July 21st.

More sites all over the web are spewing out spoilers that are being claimed to be unique and set in stone, but you can take that for whatever you want. Some of the exciting spoilers that you so many of you just can’t seem to wait for are out there, but why go searching when I can just help you out.

Newest Harry Potter Leaks onto Internet

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” has reportedly been leaked onto the internet before is worldwide release date. The latest and final edition of the Potter series is a heavily guarded secret with fans clamoring for information about the fate of the young boy wizard. The latest film, release last week, is running wild over the worldwide box office, is just adding more fuel to the already blazing fan base.

Meanwhile in internet forums, a war of words raged as to whether the version that had been posted was genuine.

“Yes its real, yes it works, yes its in a pdf. Have fun,” one comment on www.thepiratebay.org read.

Another user wasn’t so sure: “I’m going to have the burst the bubble on this being real. I was positive it was, until I found this on page 156: “Auntie Muriel, who seemed to be enjoying herself *hugely*, snapped her fingers for more champagne.” To my knowledge, the word ‘hugely’ does not exist. Surely, a book as anticipated as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows would have been edited multiple times.”

“Hugely” is a rather common British expression,” a rebuttal came back. “Nothing strange about it.”

This confirmed leak of genuine Potter material is the first time that any of the novels have found their way onto the net prior to a release date. Many fans can’t seem to wait until Friday night when Potter mania should be hitting on all cylinders. I expect to see half of the riders on my train Monday morning with this book in their hands.

Could it be that someone has actually discovered the ending of the latest and final Harry Potter novel? Stories flooding the web have stated that inSecure has a link to the actual ending. Due to a flood of traffic on their server I have posted the information on the next page. I don’t want to give the ending away for those that don’t want it.

Voldemort killed Hermione. Yes, that’s true. And we knew that 2 days ago.
This is the end of the not yet published (someone could call that 0day) book
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows .
At the end of the story Hagrid was killed by Snape in the attempt of ambush Hermione and Ron.
Ron and Hermione flees in privet drive but Voldermort, surprising them, engaged a magical duel with Ron and Hermione.
Voldemort attacked trough the imperius curse and Hermione, to protect the life of Ron fight hardly for more than 6 pages and then finally die.
(boring, very boring… it’s always the same story!)
Then, to make a long story short, Harry came up, killed all the bad guys and Hogwarts against became a good place to stay and have fun.
Ah, i missed one important information about Draco Malfoy, he started to create Horcrux (for fun and profit!).

Yes, we did it.

So we make this spoiler to make reading of the upcoming book useless and boring.
The attack strategy was the easiest one.

It’s amazing to see how much people inside the company have copies and drafts of this book.
