    • ]]>     Past winners and almost winners have seen their careers take off with number one hits, awards, and even an Oscar, but is Taylor Hicks the exception?  Last season’s winner is being forgotten by mainstream America and his “Soul Patrol” fan base doesn’t seem to care either.

    His self-titled, post-”Idol” album, released in December, debuted at No. 2 on the charts. While it has sold a respectable 640,000 copies, it has slid significantly to a dismal rank: 136 this week. Discs by previous winners Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia and Ruben Studdard performed a lot better in the weeks after they were issued. And finalist Chris Daughtry is near the top of the charts with the self-titled debut of his band Daughtry — they have sold over 1 million records.

    Simon warned us last year that Hicks was not quite what you would call a young good looking guy that people would want to go and see.  he just might be right because their is no sexy video, no hot photshoot, and no packed stadiums watching him sing.  Hicks might have been the guy America wanted to feel good about, but he might be the first winner to not live up to the Idol expectations.  Was he your choice?
