JaMarcus Russell was arrested today in Mobile, AL for possession of a controlled substance, codeine syrup, without a prescription.  Russell, a former LSU legend and the 2007 first overall selection by the Oakland Raiders in the NFL draft, was arrested at his home during an undercover investigation and released on $2,500 bond.  The fall from elite quarterback hopeful to unemployed bust is nearly complete.  Having never lived up to his potential, aside form having a monster arm, the Raiders finally gave up on him this off season when his weight ballooned to over 300 pounds.  There had been rumors that the New York Jets were inquiring about his current condition, which was reported to have been improving, but a drug arrest will not get teams calling him in for an audition anytime soon.
