Larry King leaving nightly talk show

Larry King has been a staple of prime time talk shows for 25 years hosting Larry King Live on CNN.  However, Larry will hang up his suspenders this fall and step down from the daily grind of his news show to focus on his wife and kids.  He will still be part of the CNN family and will work on news specials instead.  On his blog Larry made the following statement:

I’m incredibly proud that we recently made the Guinness Book of World Records for having the longest running show with the same host in the same time slot. With this chapter closing I’m looking forward to the future and what my next chapter will bring…[Larry’s Blog]

I doubt CNN will abandon the 9PM slot that has become synonymous with Larry and his news show.  Expect a search to begin for a new host that can carry on with the same type of professionalism that this show has been known for the last quarter century.
