Ugly Betty no more

January 28, 2010

Ugly Betty was a hit when it first aired on ABC four years ago, but time have changed for the once popular comedy.  America Ferrera became a household name and was the IT girl.  However that didn’t stop ABC from announcing that this will be the final season for the show.  Story continued…

This past season saw the show move from it’s original Thursday time slot to a Friday position where shows go to die off slowly.  That wasn’t enough movement for ABC so they relocated the show to Wednesday with the thought that the new ABC comedies could help spur a larger audience. Problem is people got tired of trying to find out when the show was on and just stopped watching.  Not even a Lindsay Lohan guest spot can save the show now.  In a statement from ABC the reasoning behind the announcement was explained:

“We’ve mutually come to the difficult decision to make this Ugly Betty’s final season, and are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion,” says ABC chief Steve McPherson in a statement. “We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell.”
