Kim Peek, the inspiration behind the Dustin Hoffman role in the Oscar winning movie Rainman, has passed away at the age of 58 from a heart attack. Peek was listed as a mega-savant by the age of 30 and was a genius in about 15 different subjects. He had the ability to read a book two pages at a time with each eye reading a different page in a bout ten seconds. Though his mind is still a mystery on how it was able to grasp such a wide array of subjects Peek required 24 hour care and had very limited motor skills.
