Sereana Williams loses match for cursing

September 13, 2009

Serena Williams was at a critical point in her match against Kim Clijsters and was called for a foot fault by the line judge.  Well Serena wasn’t happy and went off with  tirade filled scream directed toward said judge.  Well the judge had enough and ran to the chair umpire because she stated that Serena threatened to kill her.  Tennis is a came for ladies and this didn’t fly.  She was penalized a point – no big deal right?  Well it was match point and that is how it ended.  Losing on an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.  This is why tennis sucks!

Serena did not lose the match because she cursed; she lost it because she threatened the line judge. The judge was called over by the chair umpire and asked what was said. The views from the camera are not conclusive, but I have to believe that a line judge sitting there looking at that line is going to do her job. It happened to Marat Safin too. She lost her cool and owes that line judge an apology as public as her outburst was, but it will never come. Serena is far too arogant.

First of all, the chair umpire called the judge over (and not as you describe it.) Second, it is certainly a death threat to say “I’m going to shove this ball down your throat”. Lastly, Serena has made a habit of unsportsmanlike conduct thoughout her career (and her post-match interview shows she has gained little insight or maturity over the past decade.)

That’s not the real reason why Serena went crazy, this post shows a different theory http://bit.ly/kB3YK
