Plaxico Burress’ life has officially gone down the train after pleading guilty to weapons charges today in New York. The former star of the New York Giants Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots will be spending the next two years in jail.
Burress issued a guilty plea to a reduced charge of attempted criminal possession of a weapon and has agreed to a prison sentence that will not allow him to be eligible for parole for at least 20 months. Plea bargaining for the former NFL receiver broke down because the Manhattan DA was insisting on at least a two year stint behind bars. When Burress is once again a free man he will be 34 years old and probably facing an eight game suspension similar to Michael Vick. Who will invest money in an aging receiver that just spent nearly three years away from the game? Just an example how poor judgment can have very bad outcomes.<
