Mia Wasikowska is Alice in Wonderland

Relative unknown actress Mia Wasikowska has been chosen to play Alice in the upcoming Tim Burton’s  Alice in Wonderland.  The Lewis Carroll will be remade in the typical dark Burton style and will star his favorite actor – Johnny Depp as the Mad Hater. Helena Bonham Carter, Burton’s wife and another regular, will play the role of Queen of Hearts while Anne Hathaway will portray the White Queen.  With such an all star cast having Wasikowska as the lead could cause her to be easily overshadowed.  It should be interesting to see how the 19 year old Australian actress, best know for her work on the HBO series In Treatment, responds to the challenge.  The 3-D movie is slated for release next march.
