Miley Cyrus didn’t learn much from the Spanish national basketball team during the Beijing Olympics when their ad in a Spanish paper had all the players use their fingers to pull their eyes back to appear more Asian. The tween star with the backing of Disney took some pictures with friends that resulted in some negative feedback from the Asian-American equality groups. After hearing that people were offended by the pictures, Miley stepped forward with one of the worst apologies ever.
“I’ve…been told there are some people upset about some pictures taken of me with friends making goofy faces!” Cyrus wrote, “well, I’m sorry if those people looked at those pics and took them wrong and out of context!”
Holy crap Miley way to bust out that heartfelt apology that will show the people you offended how bad you feel. I am surprised she didn’t use the theory of “Hey, I have Asian friends! Seriously, my best friend is Asian and my cousin married one!” Maybe next time she should speak with her PR team before releasing statements on her own.

Im around the same age she is and no one I know does that even if they do know Asians. No one likes being teased about their race. Even white people. I totally agree with the people who said she is a role model and she should be behaving better. My little cousin who is 5 watches that show,I don’t want her walking around doing that because miley cyrus did it. Yes we all want to have fun but when it’s offensive it’s not fun.
Okay! I guess if miley was wearing a sombrero it would be discriminating the hispanic community or if she had been holding a spear it would be discriminating the africans! Be serious guys its just a normal photo of kids having fun
you guys don’t understand . . .
because you guys that KEEP on pushing that she is 15 or 16
and she is just a young teenager doing what they do
you guys don’t understand because you guys don’t know how we asians feel UNLESS you are Asians
btw , miley , not all Asians have super chinky eyes BITOCH > : O
This is extremely ridiculous. The girl is 15 years old! You’re telling me a 15 year old girl can’t joke around and have fun with her friends without the press jumping all over her? There is an Asian guy in the picture. It’s like asians can make fun of other asians and it’s super funny, but when a white person does it then the white person is a horrible racist. Actually, it’s fine when a normal white person does it, just not when Miley Cyrus does it. “Concerned mom,” don’t just ignore the fact that she’s asian, you don’t just pretend she’s white. You tell her that she’s different in a beautiful way. Give her some racial pride if you’re so concerned about her being hurt. Obviously, Miley wishes she was asian!
I don’t see the big deal, but I can understand how it can be offensive even if there are Asians in the picture. I must say this though, yes she is a teen and yes teens do silly things, I did, but she is a Disney star with younger viewers and she is setting an example to them, and this picture may not be a big deal, but her other ones well, shouldn’t be seen by kids who idolize her and want to grow up to be like her.
well it is a gofft face and everyone does it if someone else does it u guys wont care olny when miley does it yuo guys are so dumb !!!!
tell your darling daughter that Miley is a 15 child who does silly things just like most 15 year old children. Yes, Miley’s dad got her a job and Disney pushed her on everyone. But she is just a child and little firls should look to adults for role models not slightly older littler girls.
Parents if you set a good example you can natually be the role model your children look up to.
My darling adopted Chinese daughter saw this photo of her idol Miley Cyrus making slanted eyes. She said, “Mommy, why is she doing that?” I was at a loss for words. How do you explain racist, stereotypical behavior to a 7 year old? Concerned Mom
Miley has a point like it or not. Asians are in her photos. Using I know Asians is not theory but a fact here.
SHE IS A TEEN! I DID SILLY STUFF ON/OFF THAT’S A PART OF GROWING UP!
