Anquan Boldin helmet to helmet hit (Video)

September 28, 2008

The New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals played an entertaining high scoring game today that saw Brett Favre throw for six touchdowns, 91 total points scored, Kurt Warner throw for nearly 500 yards, and the Jets win 56-35, but all of that was overshadowed by a vicious hit by Eric Smith on Anquan Boldin.  The play occurred as the game was winding down and Warner lofted a high pass to the end zone that Boldin went up in the air to grab.  Jets safety Kerry Rhodes hit Boldin in the back at the same time Eric Smith was going airborne to break up the pass.  However, Rhodes’ hit sent Boldin’s head forward causing a serious head to head collision.  Both players dropped to the ground and Boldin stayed on the turf motionless.  He was tended to by on field medical personnel and was said to be awake on the field even though to those watching at home he showed no motion.  He was carted off the field, but did not go into a waiting an ambulance which as a good sign.  Reports are that he has movement and feeling in all extremities and will remain at Mt.Sinai in Manhattan for observations.  We hope to see Anquan back on the field next week against Buffalo.
