Sarah Palin Church Video Controversy

by Celeb on September 3, 2008

Sarah Palin has gone from a little known Governor to one of the most known and searched figures around.  So far she has been caught up in controversy surrounding her youngest child, her beauty queen past, and her pregnant daughter Bristol.  Now a video has surfaced showing Sarah Palin delivering a speech at the Wasilla Assembly of God church where she describes God’s work in the war in Iraq.

The speech which was given to a graduating high school class was apparently not known to the McCain camp when they announced her as the VP candidate last week.

Some quotes from the speech that are causing a stir are:

“That’s what we have to make sure that we are praying for: that there is a plan and that that plan is God’s plan.”

and

“I can do my part in working really, really hard to get a natural gas pipeline, about a $30 billion project that’s going to create a lot of jobs for Alaska. … [but] I think God’s will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that,” she said. “I can do my job there in developing our natural resources, in doing things like getting the roads paved and making sure our troopers have their cop cars and their uniforms and their guns, and making sure our public schools are funded. But really that stuff doesn’t do any good if the people of Alaska’s hearts aren’t right with God.”

It is less dangerous to live in a society run by ignorant people who know little, rather than in one run by ignorant people who think that that they know everything.

I have yet to read or hear any comments about the expected increased attacks on Obama’s relationship with his former pastor, Jeremiah Wright and the fact that we’re seeing few or no comments in the general press on the matter of Ms. Palin’s appearance with the religious witch doctor.
I am a firm believer in religious freedom, and, to me, that means the freedom to worship as one believes, or not to worship at all, as one may believe.
Palin scares the daylight out of me, and I may just need a witch doctor to cure that.

Just what is supposed to be controversial about those comments? People who go to church pray for things. Is that breaking news?
