If you don’t know who Don LaFontaine was by his picture that is alright because you will surely know him for what he was most famous for – his voice. LaFontaine passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles Monday afternoon at the age of 68.
Don LaFontaine was known as the King of Voiceovers and he lent his trademark voice to over 5000 movie trailers, countless television spots, commercials, radio, and award shows. He was even featured in a Geico commercial recently speaking on behalf of a normal person. Anytime you hear the line “In A World…” kicking off a movie trailer you know that you are listening to the master at work.
