Say so long to Ana at Open

Ana Ivanovic made history at the US Open this evening…..by being the first top seeded woman to lose in the second round in 40 years.

Julie Coin, the 188th-ranked ranked player in the world, shock Ivanovic in three set 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. Prior to Ana’s collapse, who was battling a thumb injury, only Billie Jean King suffered an early exit as a number one seed. that came in 1973 when she retired in the third set of a third round match. It’s OK though because Ana will live on at the Open in our hearts and minds.
