Dara Torres goes in for surgery

Dara Torres, the 41 year old Olympic swimmer, underwent shoulder surgery to relive pain from an arthritic condition in her AC joint.

Torres, who took home 3 silver medals from Beijing, thought the pain might keep her from competing, but she toughed it out.  Now that she is back home and taking it easy she decided to get the condition corrected so she can get back in the pool.

“Dara had surgery in November 2007 to remove bone spurs and repair a partial tear in her rotator cuff,” Chalal told CNN before Torres’ surgery. “She was doing quite well, but over time she developed this degenerative arthritis problem in the AC joint.”
