Shawn Johnson has captured an individual gold medal for the US Gymnastics team today on her best event - the balance beam.  After seeing judging issues take gold away from Nastia Liukin and a bronze away from Alicia Sacromone it was refreshing to see Johnson take the top spot.  Johnson scored an impressive 16.225 and it was able to hold up against the rest of the field.  Her teammate Nastia Liukin took home the silver and China’s Cheng Fei rounded out the top three.  it was the first individual event that was not won by a Chinese gymnast.
