Obama cover of New Yorker Magazine
New Yorker Magazine is coming under fire for their July 21, 2008 cover featuring a cartoon of Barack Obama and his wife Michelle. The cover depicts the pair in the Oval Office fist bumping while an American flag burns and a picture of Osama bin Laden hangs on the wall. The New Yorker is going for a satirical representation of some of the views conservatives have against him. What are your feeling about the cover? Has the New Yorker over stepped any bounds?

It’s about time someone isn’t afraid to make fun of them for fear of being called a racist. I love it!!
I was so proud of this Country until I saw this tastless garbage called ’satire’ for the cover of this magazine. Why don’t the editors just put on the cover “We Are Racists” and forget the stupid drawings ! No wonder the New Yorker is having trouble staying in business!
The editorial staff of the New Yorker Magazine should be ashamed of themselves. If they thought they were increasing sales they are incorrect. I, for one, will never pick it up again.
Heide, help me understand how, exactly, the cover makes fun of the obamas.
Andra, help me understand why you think the editors of the magazine are racists.
cpaul, help me understand shy, exactly, the magazine staff should be ashamed of themselves.
Thank you all.
