It’s not everyday you see a sports star take over the headlines of every New York area paper because of their love life.  Alex Rodriguez is usually on the covers for his accomplishments or failures with the Yankees, but now that his wife Cynthia is filing for divorce we get to see a whole new type of ballgame.  Cynthia has stated that Alex’s rumored relationship with Madonna was the final straw in an already fragile marriage.

The papers will allege “total emotional abandonment,” Lilly explains. “You’re not going to see a lot of other relationships named.

“The papers are designed not to be horrible, vitriolic, or create negative feelings, but just to put it out on the table and get this lady through a very troubled period in her life,” Lilly adds.

At stake in the split: a pre-nuptial agreement, which is being reviewed by Lilly, the couples’ multiple homes and the fortune of a “a baseball player worth close to a billion dollars,” he says.

Now of course you get to add to the circus with reports that Cynthia was on the verge of a nervous break down because of A-Rod’s wandering ways.  Reports that Alex is being brain washed by Madonna and her Kabalah ways and of course now the Material Girl is making statements that she has no romantic involvement with the Yankees third baseman. Expect for this to get very nasty before it comes to an end and Yankees fans blaming this for a disappointing first half for the Yanks.
