It's been rolling for six months already. Second, I don't see any mystery here. Eddie Van Halen is one of the classic rock prima donnas. He envisions himself as inheritor of the revolutionary guitarist mantle handed down from Clapton to Page to him. But can you imagine Jimmy Page or Pete Townsend or any of the other greats putting up with this level of talent from their frontman? It's bad enough to expect him to play the same stock guitar solo from Jump at the end of all eighty-four stops but to do so behind an out-of-tune, washed up "showmen" may simply be too much. Mix in the requisite three ring circus of rock-n'-roll idiocy (I counted a flag-waiving, a giant phallic microphone and a mic-stand twirl in that five minute clip alone), and it's something else: Embarrassing. Is Eddie quitting? Maybe. But I suspect it has nothing to do with his ex-wife.
