“I Am Legend” not alone at the box office
Will Smith got an early Christmas present with his biggest box office opening ever. His new film, “I Am Legend”, pulled in an impressive $76.5 million and is also he biggest December opening of all time. The family movie “Alvin and the Chipmunks” was impressive taking in $45 million. However, after those two big opening there was a major drop-off as last week’s number one film, “The Golden Compass”, plummeted to only $9 million to finish at three.
1. “I Am Legend,” $76.5 million

4. “Enchanted,” $6 million

Wow! Congratulations to Will. His movies have won such a big box office. That’s so nice! About “I Am Legend”, I just saw several pictures of the Japan premiere held at the Tokyo International Forum. It might be a “secret ending” he was talking about then. I haven’t seen the movie, but I know this movie based on a 1954 science fiction novel by Richard Matheson about the last man alive on earth. And I have read the novel, its influence on the horror genre has been profound. Once reading it, it is hard to put it down. Now owning the book is not a big problem. I found one with a good price here at dealstudio.com , I guess it is a wise choice to read the novel for those who like the movie.
