59 Emmy Award Winners

September 17, 2007

The show left a lot to be desired.  From the awful stage set-up to a vanishing host the Emmy Awards seemed like a show that is only aired so Hollywood can throw some parties.  The opening song from Brian and Stewie of Fox’s “The Family Guy” set a tone for mocking television for the evening.  The censors had their say when they cut away from Ray Romano to a silent shot which made viewers think Fox had screwed something up.  Lewis Black did a five minute routine that ran about five minutes too long if you ask me – and I like his comedy.  The tribute to the Sopranos was about as weak as their final few seasons with the Jersey Boys singing some songs to clips of the show.  Some winners were surprising and some expected….Jon Stewart taking home a trophy for “The Daily Show” has become a given, but James Spader for “Boston Legal”  has to raise some eyebrows.
