Comedian Richard Jeni dead in apparent suicide

Richard Jeni, a popular comedian and actor, has died in an apparent suicide in California. 

Los Angeles police found the 45-year-old performer alive but gravely wounded in a West Hollywood home Saturday morning when they responded to a call from Jeni’s girlfriend. According to L-A-P-D, the caller told police: “My boyfriend shot himself in the face.”Jeni died at a nearby hospital.

Police say suicide has not been officially confirmed and the investigation is continuing.

Jeni most recently appeared in an episode of Chris Rock’s television show “Everybody Hates Chris”.  Jeni is the latest in a long line of comedian that have had their lives end far too soon.  John Belushi, Chris Farley, Sam Kinison, and Mitch Hedberg are other comedic talents that couldn’t escape their own personal demons.  Our thoughts are with all of Jeni’s friends and family.
