79th Oscar Winners

The 79th Oscars had all the suspense of a Paris Hilton home movie. The only surprise was Alan Arkin taking home Best Support Actor over Eddie Murphy, but to be honest I didn’t think Eddie was going to win anyway. The awards had a very international flavor and ran nearly four hours. The winners in the primary categories were:

Best Picture - The Departed
Best Actor - Forest Whitaker, The Last King of Scotland
Best Actress - Helen Mirren, The Queen
Best Supporting Actor - Alan Arkin, Little Miss Sunshine
Best Supporting Actress - Jennifer Hudson, Dreamgirls
Best Director - Martin Scorsese, The Departed
Best Adapted Screenplay - The Departed
Best Original Screenplay - Little Miss Sunshine
