American Idol producers say Antonella Barba is safe
Posted on February 25th, 2007The picture controversy that has made Antonella Barba the biggest thing on the internet and the most known Idol contestant will not keep her from performing next week.
Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe says he has not seen any of the Internet pictures, and only learned of the sexually explicit shots from EW. ”We have really good background checks on everybody, and we deal with that every season,” he says. ”It’s sad, isn’t it, that your best friends are the ones that come forward with information that will go to Smoking Gun or put your photographs on the web?”
Nigel comments that “your best friends” are the one to leak the picture so you have to wonder if Antonella’s friend that didn’t make the show was behind the leak. You never know who your friends are until you really have to depend on them and you see how they behave. There are so many pictures out there now that had to be in the control of her friends so they will have some explaining to do. Antonella will not win Idol, most likely not make it to the final 10, but this story will make her some good money in the long run.
