Katherine Hiegl annoyed with Isiah Washington’s Comments

Posted on January 17th, 2007

The love affair that the fans and critics have with “Grey’s Anatomy” is not carrying over to the cast.  The latest turmoil stems from comments made be Isaiah Washington at the Golden Globes.

After a reporter questioned the validity of the on-set incident, Washington denied his involvement saying, “No, I did not call T.R. a faggot. Never happened, never happened.”

In response to Washington’s use of the slur when addressing the situation last night, Heigl spoke out.

“I’m going to be really honest right now, he needs to just not speak in public. Period. I’m sorry, that did not need to be said, I’m not okay with it,” Katherine told Shaun.

When asked if she thought it was just an off-the-cuff remark, Heigl added, “I have no idea what it was, I just find it hurtful…I just feel like this is something that should be very much in house we need to deal with and it’s among us and the cast and crew and among Shonda [Rimes, show creator] and the producers.”

There were already rumors about Isiah and the rest of the cast not seeing eye to eye and this comment is not going to help matters.  I am sure the writers can create a story line where his hand fails to heal and he exits the show making room for a little new blood.  Do you think they would have a problem filling that role?  Isaiah you have to be careful when you are part of an ensemble cast because anyone can be replaced – ER has been doing it for years!

I just wanted to say that however the media is dealing with this is not right. You have made a mistake and it is not a good one but nonetheless, you are black and should understand the relevance of your words. It could be a reverse issue…..instead of this DRAMA created by the media, instead, it could be against you. It is frivilous and demeaning, ONLY, because the media has created a scenario that is tabloid great. It could have been reversed, the gay actor could have said demeaning things about you. On the reverse side, the gay action police are relentless, just as the black advocates are. So, the only point I am trying to make is that you are a “great actor” and in this day and age, the times as they are, they want to crucify you for your “words”.

It is trivial at best, whether it is BLACK oriented or GAY oriented, both parties have been smeared before and will again, but is it necessary to take people DOWN all the way?
I am sending this only because I believe that in our world today that is bent on ruining people for slurs and for media contempt. Careers can be ruined in a day, incomes affected in a moment, and lives changed without anyone really caring.

It is not right, this way of dealing with issues.

I care for you, I like your character, I am not your ususal “groupie”, I am only concerned how these “entities” with or without power can break people. This new age of media dominance cannot be good for people to deal with.

Apologize, God forgives, he is all that counts. Screw the rest. You may never get this, but I hope that you rise above the “entertainment score”, it is not all there is.

Love the show and the actors are ALL great . . . BUT, the first time can be called a “mistake”, the second time, on a National Awards Show – sorry, you’re done! Bye-bye!

how long will this madness continue, yes its true that the statements were out of place and wrong,i dont think he should have lost his job behinde these remarks, who was it that brought it to the public stage if this happend on set,and saying it didnt happen was one way of leaving it or keeping it in house when ms,heigle added her point of view only served to fan the fire per-say eventhough she felt this way in house is in-house! his remarks were said not on camera or public radio like others have been and i still dont think the other gentalmen should have lost his job, have we forgotten that last year a someone tried to hold out for more money(K.H.).mr.washington i will miss you or hopefully you may return later in the season and as for you mr.night i dont care one way or the other about your sexual choice and life style if your going to let the words of others hurt you than maybe you should rethink your life choices because my friends that are dont care what others have to say,and we get along just fine and their some of the strongest people i know,i respect their choice and the respect mine, get over it and live your life and be happy.
