Lou Diamond Phillips beats up women

The former star of “La Bamba” apparently has a bit of a temper and it got him in some hot water last night.

Actor Lou Diamond Phillips was arrested early today after authorities said he physically abused his live-in girlfriend. Phillips, best known for his roles in “La Bamba” and “Stand and Deliver,” is being held on $50,000 dollars bail for investigation of felony domestic violence. Officers were called about 2 a.m. to a home in the Northridge section of Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley.

You think that beating the hell out of your girlfriend would get more press than a drunken Mel Gibson, but in Hollywood it’s not the size of the crime it’s the size of the star committing the crime.  What happened to just getting drunk and sleeping with a cheap hooker in he Valley? Didn’t people learn anything from Hugh Grant?
